The 2016 World Patient Safety, Science & Technology Summit Was A Huge Success! Congratulations to the 2016 winners!
The 4th Annual Summit brought together leaders from healthcare organizations, the healthcare industry, the patient advocacy community, and public policy makers to discuss solutions to the leading challenges causing preventable death in hospitals.
2016 Midyear Planning Meeting
Our annual midyear planning meeting was the largest to date bringing together over 100 medical experts, administrators, patient advocates and government officials for presentations and discussions on patient safety. For the first time, the Foundation held the meeting outside of California and co-convened with the Inova Heart and Vascular Institute in Falls Church, Virginia.
The meeting is the venue for the annual nomination and selection of new patient safety challenges, or topics where patient death can be prevented if proper protocols are followed by hospital staff. The group voted on fifteen nominated challenges and three were selected to be the focus at the 5th Annual World Patient Safety, Science & Technology Summit.
This year we were proud to have received commitments from organizations representing 1,631 hospitals that have collectively saved 24,643 lives. We also announced the winners of our first ever Patient Safety Innovation Award competition as well as our annual Humanitarian Awards.
The Annual World Patient Safety, Science & Technology Summit is co-convened with the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) and American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), and the European Society of Anesthesiology (ESA) and will bring together all stakeholder groups to discuss novel solutions to the leading challenges facing hospitals today.
We invite international hospital leaders, medical and information technology companies, the patient advocacy community, public policy makers and government officials to join us for our 8th Annual event and be part of this momentous event as we share our plans.
The Summit featured keynote addresses from public figures, patient safety experts and plenary sessions with healthcare luminaries, and patient advocates, as well as announcements from organizations who have made their own commitments to reach the Patient Safety Movement Foundation’s goal of ZERO preventable deaths.
Every year the Patient Safety Movement Foundation identifies the most influential advocates in patient safety and honors them with the Humanitarian Award at the annual World Patient Safety, Science & Technology Summit. This award recognizes leaders who have made significant progress in eliminating preventable patient deaths so that we can reach our shared goal of ZERO preventable deaths.
