Ryan Holiday is a young marketing executive turned columnist, author and motivational speaker. His book The Obstacle Is the Way: The Timeless Art of Turning Trials into Triumph, which explores the ancient philosophical principle of finding success in any situation, has been translated into more than 20 languages and has sold more than 230,000 copies.
In his keynote, Holiday focuses on a principle first attributed to Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, who said, "The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way." Holiday explains how to put this principle into practice by examining the success stories of historical icons such as John D. Rockefeller, Amelia Earhart and Steve Jobs — outliers whose accomplishments are due less to luck or skill than to an obstinate determination to see opportunity instead of opposition.
